Geometry Daily

added on Sunday, Jan 01, 2012 20:10 pm

I start something new today.

In 2012, I‘m going to channel my enthusiasm for simple graphics in a new on-going personal design project. Starting today I will publish a new graphic artwork each and every day. Each piece will be based on simple geometric shapes and composed in a rather minimal style. I set up a new tumble log dedicated to this project. It‘s called Geometry Daily, the URL is geometrydaily.tumblr.com.

Let‘s see where this will take us and how long I can hold that up! I‘m excited. See you over there. ¬ Comments

Buddha Machine 3rd gen.

added on Wednesday, Dec 08, 2010 21:20 pm

It's only a tiny battery-driven plastic box that plays different ambient sound loops through a tiny speaker. But it is such a minimal and coherent piece of techy art, it is incredibly cool. And the sound loops are genius. At least they were in the Buddha Machine 2, which I have on my iPhone and gave away as christmas presents some years ago. Now the third version rolls out, in translucent plastic. Instant buy.

Misericordia

This is a sign I created for a local project for young adult christians. The project is about putting our faith in God into practice by helping needy people in our home town.

That is a very honorable task with a long tradition. So I created a coat of arms, but in a very modern and graphic way. The symbols depict the values of the project: Doing good with our hands (top left), rooted in Christ (the vineyard in the lower right). ¬ Full Entry

Issey Miyake A-POC inside by Euphrates

Interesting minimal video for Issey Miyake by japanese team Euphrates. From a short loop of 3D tracking data from a model walking, this gets really playful and surprising, although it sticks to just white points and lines on a plain black background.

Three and a Half Seconds About Life by Eran Hilleli

Sweet sweet animated clips of only 3.5 seconds each. A bit dark, because – despite of the title – it only shows various deaths of birds. But it‘s executed in such a minimal and elegant style, that it‘s a pleasure to watch. The sound design supports it perfectly.
