Elternzeit etc.

Hello dear visitors. Things have been a little slow here. This is because:
- a) Tweets do not get through to this blog anymore, because of Gnip‘s spotty behaviour.
- b) I am on Elternzeit (parent time) now. That means that I do not work. Not at all. And I still get money from the german government. Neat, isn‘t it? For the time from August until middle of October, I will stay with my wife and baby Linn, which is obviously absolutely fabulous. And if I can find some time between pushing the stroller and enjoying the last days of summer, I will spend it on c)...
- c) I am building a new Content Management for this site in the back. I would like to be able to post faster and shorter and tie in the feeds from Flickr, Twitter and Del.icio.us. The current idea is to build on the very clever Sweetcron, create a custom theme and add all the functionality that I am missing by myself. Fortunately Sweetcron was done on the php framework CodeIgniter, therefore it is clearly structured and relatively easy to build upon. Still I don‘t know where this is going and if I can get it off the ground, but it‘s fun so far.
For a look at my offline activities, please drop by on my Flickr page. See you soon! ¬ Comments
Kreuth Mountaintop

A quick drawing of a mountaintop near Kreuth in the alps. It is much more about komposition and texture (and the feeling of a pen on paper) than naturalism. Another take here: ¬ Full Entry
Sticks and cubes advent calendar
added on Tuesday, Dec 30, 2008 22:32 pm
In Europe we have the habit to give an advent calendar to our loved ones, with small packages filled with sweets and presents for every day from December 1 until christmas. I hand-crafted this one for my wife: A wooden frame held together by wires, the cubes are folded Origami-style each out of one piece of yellow or white transparent paper. ¬ Full Entry
Linn's Birth Announcement
added on Thursday, Dec 25, 2008 21:40 pm

We put this notice of our new-born in the local newspaper. Certainly we were not satisfied by the off-the-shelf designs, so I did it myself. I‘m pretty happy with how well the Mac OS font Zapfino goes together with the baby hair photography. The rest is Gill Sans. Bigger version: ¬ Full Entry
